I know exercise helps, but what if you can't shut your brain off to sleep at night and end up staying awake all night? I haven't found a drug yet that helped with the depression enough to endure the side effects most drugs have. Any more natural remedies to help with depression, anger, anxiety, etc? I don't want my kids to remember mom being angry and having a short temper all the time.

A loved one suffered a very traumatic experience recently. He is very depressed and i would like to help him without medicating him. He has never suffered from depression in the past so I would like to avoid pills like Prozac and Zoloft and stuff. I think they are effective for some people but his depression isn’t permanent and I would like to help him get thru it with more natural remedies. i've been battling depression my whole life, and i can usually tolerate the symptoms without medication. i recently quit smoking (about a month ago), so my symptoms are getting a little unbearable. i was wondering if anyone knew of any natural or herbal remedies for depression. i can't take st. john's wort because i'm on the pill...does anyone know of anything else that works?
