I was laid off work after 24 1/2 years this past January and I'm not having any luck finding another job. My wife seems to think I might be suffering from a mild form of depression. Can anyone tell me what symptoms I need to be looking for before I call a doctor. Money is tight right now and can't afford to spend money for just a visit without any proof of depression.

I want to know what some depression symptoms are like...and how i can treat it..i came to the conclusion i might be under depression, but i want to make sure....i often cry a lot for everything, I'm by myself all day my mom and brother are at work, and i don't get to go out that much and by the way I'm only 16...so this worries, and I often feel ALONE

Sorry to ask such a serious question, but I am a little too embarrased to take it to my Dr. I am a healthy 26 year old nurse. I believe I have been depressed since middle school - and have thought about suicide on and off since then (on & off being for brief periods every 2 years or so). When ever I feel so low, I am too depressed to talk to the Dr about it, and when I'm not I am too embarrased to talk about it.
The reason I am questioning talking to my Dr about it today is that I am so tired. I just feel like no matter how much sleep I get, it's not enough. I have a history of migraines, but I feel like I am getting a headache every single day. My job is very fast paced, and these symptoms make me feel like I can't do my job. I also feel like I need to quit my job every 6 months for no reason - I really like my job, and don't know why I get such a strong urge to quit.
I know there may be other answers for my symptoms, but does anyone else think could they mean depression?

What if you have depression but don't need to see a doctor yet. How can you improve your light depression symptoms at home? Don't say some type of pill, because I would want to go through a doctor before I take any kind of supliment.

My insurance does not cover the cost of counseling, so how can I get rid of the depression symptoms or diminish them when I am too tire to exercise? There is one person that I talk to on the phone every week who is the only person I found can make me feel better, but talking to her only once a week does not seem to be enough, and she is not a counselor, or doctor of any kind.

I know that depression is a disease that never really goes away. i can tell that I'm getting symptoms of depression again...I want to sleep, I'm sad about everything, my mind goes to the sad part of my life automatically, I either overeat or don't eat at all. I need to know how to avoid the symptoms since I can't cure the disease. Help! I'm desperate.
